>>I don't want to state the obvious, but AMAT is a cyclical. Cyclicals are frequently priced on estimated eps at the peak of the next cycle.<<

John,

I agree and know that AMAT is cyclical. My previous post had things in it such a "U" not "V" shaped recovery as I recall. Right now I am doing a small amount of short term trading and am concerned with factors that might influence AMAT in the near term.

A couple weeks ago I sold my LT position in the mid 60s. In the last week have purchased some more at average 59 price. I am expecting a run up here in conjunction with the annual shareholders meeting tomorrow. Also, sad to say, a lot of foreign money has apparently come into the market because of Kosovo and this foreign money is probably going to the "gorilla" stocks, plus there might be some end of quarter window dressing going on.

These volatility influences on top of a cyclical stock pattern means its share price could move up or down near term. Plus there are those that think that as earnings info comes out this month from others in the sector many will see the slowness in the semi equip sector recovery and may take their money elsewhere for the next 2-3 months. Plus, there are those that think the market is due for some more correction in the next 1-2 months.

So, I am thinking about a lot of things but for now I just wondered if anyone had any comments about what might happen in conjunction with the annual meeting. If it has had no influence on the stock price in the past, then I won't expect anything today or tomorrow or Thursday.

I plan to load up lots of shares when the run up seems to be happening. I just hope I don't miss the boat with the present fussing about.
