Check Point Software Licenses RSA BSAFE(TM) SSL-C for its Market-Leading VPN Solutions
SAN MATEO, Calif., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Data Security, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDTI - news), today announced that it has expanded its ongoing relationship with Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP - news), to include licensing of RSA's BSAFE(TM) SSL-C worldwide protocol component product. BSAFE SSL-C, the company's first strong encryption solution for international markets, will be included in Check Point Software's industry-leading VPN-1(TM) virtual private networking (VPN) product family and its LDAP-enabled Account Management module. This agreement represents the largest sale to date for products developed at RSA's new operation in Australia.
Introduced earlier this year, BSAFE SSL-C software is the company's first protocol-level product for worldwide markets and was developed entirely by RSA developers in Australia. BSAFE SSL-C software is the first RSA product available outside the United States that supports key lengths of any size, and incorporates the full suite of RSA and other algorithms specified in SSL. The product will ship from RSA's Australian development center to Check Point Software's headquarters in Ramat-Gan, Israel.
''Leading the market with more than 13,000 VPN installations, Check Point Software delivers the best in network security to its customers,'' said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. ''Utilizing RSA's BSAFE SSL-C protocol product in our VPN products gives our customers the assurance of proven, trusted technology.''
Check Point Software will use RSA's BSAFE SSL-C software to implement the SSL security protocol with strong encryption in its VPN-1 Gateway, VPN-1 SecuRemote and LDAP Account Management products. Check Point Software's VPN-1 family of products meets the demanding requirements of enterprise VPNs by providing secure Internet-based connectivity to corporate networks, remote and mobile users, satellite offices and partner sites.
BSAFE(TM) SSL-C software will also be used in Check Point Software's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Software Developers Kit. OPSEC is the industry's first enterprise-wide security framework through which customers can easily and seamlessly integrate a full spectrum of best-of-breed security and network management applications, defined and driven by a single, central enterprise-wide security policy.
''RSA and Check Point Software have a long history of working together to develop real solutions that businesses are using to be successful in today's global economy,'' said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing for RSA and Security Dynamics Technologies. ''We're pleased to extend our relationship with Check Point by providing them with our new international SSL component product. As the worldwide demand for strong encryption continues to expand, RSA, through its headquarters and its international development center, will continue to meet that demand.''
