PC Magazines corrects an earlier item on the Compaq/IDT product:

"In 'Are You Ready For Biometrics?' (February 23), we incorrectly stated that the Compaq Fingerprint Identification Technology requires users to enter a password in addition to using the fingerprint scanner. In fact, you can set the software to accept just a fingerprint to gain access. We also complained about the wiring setup, in which the product occupies your parallel port with no pass-through for a printer or other device. Compaq reports that its upcoming USB version will eliminate this problem."

Hockeyfan... Interesting observations about AFIS. Why, I wonder, are they not seen as a major player? Like IDX, they have many govt.-type contracts, some international stuff, turn a profit regularly, etc. Yet, today even though they were up 3/4, it was on slightly more than 16K shares. If you were someone peddling AFIS stock, why might I want to invest there and not in IDX? Curious as to your thoughts. Jean
