Agreed! The thing that I liked the most about his direction is that for the last 40 years some people have thought that we can "re-write" all or parts of the human brain ... something that evolved over a long time. Kurweil seems to think, and I completely agree, that the human brain could be instantiated on a better "processor" ... one of silicon vs. one of carbon.

I really believe that *this* is the key point ... why try to write from scratch if you can develop the tools to reverse engineer? ;-)
