From Bill's linked article: "I have never been able to visualize a scenario that would prompt Japan to sell it's massive holdings of U.S. Treasury Bills. I'm starting to see a scenario now."

Bill,
Just wanted you let you know your post did not go unnoticed by me. I thought it was a pretty significant piece and am surprised there were no comments regarding it on this thread.

Deep in the crisis, oh about one year ago, we got into some very extensive discussions about the trouble Japan's Postal Savings System was in. I believe your linked article is a quick synopsis of some doomsday scenarios that were running around at that time. I did a summary of an article from Atlantic Monthly (?) that I believe painted a somewhat dreary picture along the lines of your recently linked article.

Not to say that there won't come a time where there may be a needle to burst our economic bubble, but my guess that your article is getting little commentary now is because, there have been so many crisis deadlines purposed concerning Japan and other Asian nations. Yet all have come and gone with nary a downward blip in the ROARING US equities markets.

Personally I'm fully aware of the risks involved in our markets and have maintained a somewhat cautions position of between 50-70% in equities due to articles similar to what you posted. I only move up to a 70% position for a short time when I feel it's warranted. Otherwise I'm sitting at 50% for the most part.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to post it and reminding me to stay alert.
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
