Big Dog, there is always the fear of the unknown - aka "unpleasant surprises", so I don't hold much hope for a big end of day rally. My GUESS is that the API numbers tonight will be positive for distillates and gasoline, overpowering any increases in crude - for the third week in a row. Another guess is that this could "fuel" the continuation of the Oil Patch rally in the weeks ahead as analysts realize that the "glut" is disappearing before the latest OPEC cuts even takes effect. Look for continuing EIA revisions to reduce their supply and increase demand numbers in the coming months.

<<Can we look for some buying during the last 2 hours in anticipation of API numbers?>>

We are also at the end of a quarter. I do not recall what the cutoff date is for a fund to count a share in their portfolio. Normal closing is 3 days so perhaps the opportunity deadline has passed for fund window dressing?
