They would have to have a vote to authorize more shares. You are correct. MSFT just split and they didn't have enough shares either. They sent a Proxy out about a couple weeks before the split date. It is not really a big deal to authorize more shares.

AOL will let shareholders vote on next split.

Suppose you're right that they don't have enough authorized share for another split. It doesn't mean we are not going to have one. All they have to do is announce a split, pending shareholders approval for more shares. And shareholders will likely give it a thumb-up.

I haven't researched about the current authorized shares yet. My guess right now is we will have the split announcement on May 5, the earnings date.
