On March 30, 1999, a Crys-Tel press release claimed they placed an order to buy 21 Nokia IP telephony gateways, valued at over $1,000,000 US. It is interesting that Nokia did not also make a press release, to confirm the order.

I contacted Nokia IP Telephony and talked to an executive to try to get confirmation of the March 30 order. Because of Nokia company policy to not discuss customer information with third parties, the Nokia executive was unwilling, or unable, to confirm that they had received this order.

However, I got the impression from the conversation that Nokia did not receive the order, or that possibly the order, if it existed, was cancelled.

Draw your own conclusions.
