Earlie, re: Compaq/AMD
Starting to see rumors of Compaq lusting after AMD. Compaq uses AMD in a number of products, including a newly announced lap-top claimed to be faster than anything with Intel in it.
AMD just nominated Palmer to the Board. (Formerly DEC CEO and a member of Compaq's board).
And Compaq's Enterprise solutions with Alpha, (the part they got from DEC), compete directly with Intel's Xeon processors.
But clearly Compaq needs Intel badly for product. Do you think their position as number one Intel customer gives them the power to buy AMD? (AMD's a cheap takeover right now). Can they co-exist?
