Darrell - the reason QCOM's CDMA will never be 3G is that they're still using correlator filter.

Matched filters are nothing special by themselves. To say that W-CDMA is using them is like saying that your car uses spark plugs. The question is where and how are they using them.

PS Note that some companies boast a great deal about using matched filters, but never gives any more details. What would you think of a car salesman who told you that the car he was trying to sell you used spark plugs? It might really be a better car, but the claim in and of itself makes one suspicious that he has nothing better to boast of.
