Mr. Paul Godin reports:
Bid.Com has received patent No. 5890138 from the United States Patent Office for its declining price (Dutch) auction process.
"The issuance of this patent is a resounding endorsement of our proprietary technology," said Paul Godin, Bid.Com's chief executive officer and chairman. "The use of real time declining price auctions is a major differentiator and is anticipated to evolve as a significant sector within the on-line auction marketplace. It will provide a competitive advantage as we continue to build our auction business on a global scale."
Bid.Com's patent covers processes by which declining price auctions conducted using a computer. The patent provides a clear competitive advantage to Bid.Com, which now holds as proprietary the most scaleable and effective method of conducting real-time declining price auctions, across all forms of digital media. The company continues to add to its intellectual property, bringing increased sophistication to its declining price auction technology and, with additional patents pending, intends to further protect its patent position.
Mr. Godin continued, "Our mission is to electronically deliver an entertaining and cost effective method for the sales and marketing of goods and services to both consumers and businesses. Business-to-consumer driven auctions now represent the third largest category for on-line transactions. They provide organizations with the ability to efficiently conduct high volume transactions and we believe Bid.Com is unique in its offering of technology driven sales and marketing services. This technology can also be readily leveraged into the business-to-business market, which is forecast to become many times larger than the business-to-consumer market."
Mr. Godin concluded, "By combining our declining price auction technology with our more conventional rising price auction, we are able to deliver the state-of-the art interactive contact desired by our strategic and marketing partners. Our ability to provide implementation expertise, plus the flexibility to custom brand and invest in partnerships that pioneer the development of e-commerce solutions demonstrate our strategic commitment to be the global technological leader in the on-line auction sector."
