I'm not much interested in Madera as an investment, but I live in a country where rainforest butchery is at a pretty advanced stage, and I maintain some reasonably active contacts with organizations working to protect rainforests. I had a look at the pages detailing Madera's "environmental efforts", and found them a bit on the vague side, to say the least, about what has actually been done. In your research, have you come across any efforts by outside agencies to authenticate Madera's claims of environmental concern? I have already asked some of my contacts here to check with their own affiliates in Brazil, and will pass on the results.

It should be noted that the harvesting of tropical hardwoods is not by nature an environmentally sound activity, and also that plantations of fast-growing replacement species are hardly an adequate replacement for the diversity of a climax rainforest.
