George, I was informed by one of the 3G committee participants that the reason
QCOM's CDMA will never be 3G is that they're still using correlator filter. 3G requires
matched filter. what is your take on this? This information came from an individual who
held a significant number of patents for CDMA

(the market doesn't seem to care does it)

there is a fairly long article in today's financial times on the impact of the Q - Ericy deal by someone who appears not to have a clue about what's going on -- portrays it as a great victory for GSM, an opening for Ericy and others for GSM in the US market, and states that GSM is a "feature rich" and mature technology as opposed to CDMA. This guy seems so off the wall it's hard to believe, but if anyone cares to take a long at the article, it's at financialtimes.com (you may have to register (free), and I could only find it by doing a search for articles under "Qualcomm").

Jim,

How Sweet It IS! ... and the general public investor now knows who Qualcomm is and sort of what CDMA is. It certainly has not hurt Sprint PCS stock either.
