Year 2000 Wire/UCOM of Thailand Joins Forces With ConSyGen Inc. USA PHOENIX, Jun 8, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) -- United Communication Industry Public Company Limited (UCOM), a publicly listed company traded on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, Tuesday announced that it has entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with ConSyGen Inc. USA (OTC BB: CSGI). This instrument confirms the intent of the parties in joining together to provide Y2K products and services to public and private sector customers in Thailand. This enterprise will combine the considerable corporate resources, technical expertise, and customer base of UCOM with the Y2K expertise and project management know-how of ConSyGen to promote and furnish comprehensive Y2K services in Thailand. ConSyGen's earlier announced plan to establish a computer "code remediation factory" in Thailand will be implemented now in facilities provided in UCOM's twin-tower headquarter building in Bangkok. Plans call for Y2K remediation to begin promptly with UCOM subsidiaries as the new factory's first customers. Other Y2K projects to be performed under the new UCOM/ConSyGen Strategic Alliance are already well under discussion with important public and private sector organizations in Thailand. UCOM sells and installs telecommunication systems (e.g. cellular phones and trunked mobile phone networks) and network equipment (e.g. switches and fiber optic cables). Its main customers are government entities/agencies or state owned enterprises. In most cases, installation and system design are performed by UCOM, which has approximately 700 engineers on staff. UCOM's largest subsidiary, Total Access Communication Public Company LTD (TAC), is a listed firm in Singapore. TAC operates 2 cell phone networks, digital PCN at 1800 MHz and analog AMPS at 800 MHz under the World Phone tradename. TAC also operates a paging service (World Page) and a trunked mobile phone network (World Radio) under licenses from the Telephone Organization of Thailand. UCOM was until last year the sole Thai importer of Motorola equipment. UCOM uses TAC's nationwide fiber optic trunk network to provide leased line data transmission for banks and securities companies. ConSyGen Inc. provides computer systems and conversion services including proprietary software technologies rendering automated Y2K compliance for all major computer platforms and all levels of the COBOL computer.
