Hints from 10K and the Proxy:

“To amend the Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. 1991 Stock Purchase Plan to increase the number of shares of common stock issuable under that plan from 5,100,000 to 7,100,000.” -- From Proxy Statement

“Our mission for the next 1,000 days is to extract the value for our shareholders from the substantial investments we have made and continue to make in our P3 strategy.” -- From Jerry's letter to shareholders.

What do these two statements suggest? It is rather clear to indicate that AMD management believes that in the next 3 years AMD stock will rise substantially, so substantial that 2 splits are possible. Hence, the 7,100,000 request.

Of course, it may not happen as those guys expect. It is, however, the indication of mind reflecting from AMD's upper management.

Re: "Why sell AMD at the low?"

Funny you are not questioning my decision to sell Intel <GGG>.
