"Abbott has just guaranteed a captive buying audience."

From the press release:
<<Abbott Laboratories Inc. said Tuesday that it has a contract with Consorta Inc., a group purchaser representing more than half the Catholic hospitals in the United States, for intravenous solutions and related products valued at nearly $500 million.>>

You better believe that if Consorta has agreed to buy $500 million only from Abbott that they are going to demand razor thin margins in return. Consorta may have just acquired a captive seller and not vice versa.
