laughter, colors, and of course the "speed" effect<

This sounds about right for a moderate dose. LSD is of course the toppest of the top-shelf psychedelics. Others are peyote (mescaline) and mushrooms (psilocin and derivatives). It does not sound like you engaged the mystical/cosmic side of these special substances. Folks used to talk about "seeing God" and they weren't kidding. Psychedelics can completely induce a mystical experience - spirit-awareness, a sense of communing with God or the Cosmic Mind or <favorite spiritual superlative> in a direct and timeless/personal way.
>but aren't psychedelics merely drugs which interact with
chemicals in our brains causing the most common funhouse or in lesser incidents a
bludgeoning effect?< Yes. This is a physical/physiological effect, and it has all the marks of mystical communion. That's pretty much my point - the soul (waht PiMac calls the spirit) is imho part of the minfd - which is a part of the organism. Head trauma, severe mental illness, etc. can be so profound that the spirit is hostage to the damaged flesh.

>there is much in my opinion which
cannot be explained using any traditional methods<
I do have an opinion about this - but now we're arguing articles of faith. I'll start tiptoeing here because I don't want to pursue my ideas to the point of infringing upon your or PiMac's beliefs.
