Just a few thoughts......
by: urgetosurge 5725 of 5734
Here are some thoughts.....take them for what their worth. on the positive side of things looks like the cpe ba for dmt is good. forward pricing losses are a thing of the past and the last 1/3 of this co. is finally making some money. Line cards production is way up along with flex cap. The long awaited and needed job cuts apparently has stopped the bleeding and one could only wish they continued cutting and remove some more of the crap, I mean fat. Most employess seem to be happy and quite positive with their positions at the co. and realize that the cuts were long needed for the co. to be more financially healthy. Engineers are staying put looking for a favorable stock option plan to be presented. Looks like the co. will be able to continue due to some elaborate multi-partnership financing. This financing arrangement seems to be quite complex trying to appease all parties so the final figures seem almost in place. I figure this is another attempt to make all parties happy while taking it in the ass, I mean back. Shareholder dilution in SOME measure is to be expected.....and once again the shareholder gets the backseat. As for taking the co. private thats not the thrust or the direction the co. wants to go. Here I do believe them however, mis-management, lack of execution, resistance to change their game plan despite obvious changes on the playing field, a lack of clarity with Wall street ( although some clarification has commenced), has placed this stock at the bottom of the pile. ( You know it takes some courage to admit that corporately you've made mistakes and been long in enacting change that can aright the ship. Maybe a little humility can shore up some slights and hurts among the parties involved ). Sorry, for digressing. On a longer term picture Westell can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel if they can secure a favorable financing package that...IS FAVORABLE TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SHAREHOLDERS!!!!! If they are indeed starting to see a profit in dsl then estimates and further up-grades will be in order which should see a higher stock price. On a personal note, as a shareholder for several years now, if i could cost average further I probably would. I believe we will see 8-12 a hell of a lot sooner that north of 15. If all goes well we well could have seen the worst of what this co. could have thrown at us. Thoughtful Comments or serious questions are welcomed and will attempt to address them as best as I can.

when I first heard of 1. forward pricing no longer a problem and 2. Ba cpe dmt win, I too shrugged it off. However, that is the rumor. How they could attain profitability as soon as they have is beyond me, unless the cut backs, possible lower costs of production through Dovatron, or even a manufacturing arrangement with LU or ? One thing is clear though. If they have attained profitability on the cpe/dsl and secured the ba then estimates will have to be revised. As for the assumption that they won't get any dmt all I can say is that the customer does have the power to select the provider. Maybe that is what has happened here. Remember the central office part of the dmt contract is definately lost to ala, however that does leave the line cards and the cpe's.
They seem to be doing a lot of work with the chipsets that ala has provided via that licensing agreement. Hope this helps

Unfortunately, I wish I knew. The lack of the financing news ,coupled with waiting for the last hour, regardless of their reasons, is just wrong. A skillfull management team that cares about shareholder value would not wait until the last hour. I believe it's due to the complexity of the whole deal. They do have sufficient funds to continue even if they don't announce by tomorrows deadline ,if that's of any comfort. It seems that the complexity of this arrangement has been in the works for quite some time which leads me to believe that their is a lot of ego-bull-shit political posturing so that everybody gets stroked just right<G>. All kidding aside, I do believe that the arrangements should be forth coming within the next couple of weeks. Even if this is the case there are additional press announcements that should be released. Hopefully, the c.c.will elaborate the specifics. And, if we can just get enough Westell shareholders pissed off, then maybe we can give them an earfull at the c.c..
On the flip side, if they do this right and have attained profitabillity, with long term sustainabillity, then we are looking at a long term play with tremendous up-side.
