ASIA ONLINE.... HONG KONG: Softbank Technology Ventures, a dominant
force in Internet investments, has substantially increased its
shareholding in Asia Communications Global Ltd. (ACGL), the parent
company of pioneering regional Internet service provider, Asia Online.
Headquarters will continue to be in Hong Kong.

Softbank, which first took a position in ACGL in late 1996, have
acquired a majority of the groups shares. In addition, Softbank is
making a major commitment to the region with new investments.

The move is the spearhead of a long-term strategy by Softbank to
dramatically increase its presence in a vibrant Asian Internet
industry.

Softbank, which already has positions in more than 70 Internet-related
stocks, among them Yahoo, E*Trade, Sage Networks, Comdex, ZDNet,
Concentric, Frontier Global Center, Buy.com, Verisign, Geocities and
USWeb, plans to make a series of strategic investments in similar Asian
businesses in the coming months under a newly formed Asia Online
multi-national umbrella.

APPOINTMENTS: Following its acquisition by Internet giant, Softbank
Technology Ventures, Hong Kong-based Asia Online has announced two key
appointments to help drive the company's regional expansion and
acquisition program.

In announcing the appointments of Edward Roberto as executive vice
president of business development and Lee Kheng Joo as vice president
of business development, Chief Executive Officer Kevin Randolph said
that Asia Online was now prepared to tackle its objective of becoming a
major regional Internet force.

"Mr. Roberto's and Mr. Lee's extensive experience in Asia will
dramatically accelerate our business plan," said Mr. Randolph.
Softbanks stated objective is to build on the name, experience and
resources which Asia Online has developed in Hong Kong, using these to
establish a pan-Australasian network of Internet service providers and
other Internet related businesses.
