Les- re:" Why would FTC care about Intel's movement..."

Hi Les,

Thanx for responding.

My impression is Cisco, even a few years ago, *is* the backbone. The Stratacom acquisition, if I remember correctly, only enhanced their presence in the markets they already occupied.

Intel has to be careful to not appear to aggressive when it enters markets. Intel is not now a major, leading networking player, and I think they want to grab some of the market, but not enough to raise any eyebrows.

Considering the dynamic above, a Fore acquisition would indicate their entrance into the ATM market, a market they do not now occupy.

It just seems like that would be unwise for a company that just got done settling with the FTC. Microprocessors, graphics, signal processors, anti-virus...yes.

In fact, the recent FTC settlement may indicate what markets Intel will and will not enter.

But, if I was to investigate that, it may end our discussion... and what fun would that be? ;)

Jon :)
