I understand from an analyst friend that the reason funds buy these companies is because the pension funds are reviewed on a quarterly basis and the performance is demanded over short periods of time, never mind the risk. Imagine, pension fund managers as momentum investors!

In point of fact, a number of funds and other money management companies found their performance so lagging the NASDAQ that they had to start buying the "Internuts" to stay in the running with the consultants. Their piling in merely fuels the furor.

dug up some old research reports from jp morgan

contains a 1995 report on the internet and a 1997 report on pc sector..sometimes good to look back in order to see ahead!
