The National Post's Keith Damsell writes that Goepel McDermid Securities analyst John Kilburn says the Lac Rocher-area play has been dealt a serious blow by these results. Nuinsco's stock price dropped 42 cents to $1.32 in heavy trading. Speculation that Nuinsco had discovered a massive nickel deposit sent its shares climbing to $3.26 last month. The company's Jan. 21 discovery hole intersected one 3.2-metre section that graded an impressive 10.8 per cent nickel, the finest nickel drill results since the Voisey's Bay nickel discovery in 1994. The ensuing hype prompted more than 50 juniors to snap up exploration rights across the Lac Rocher region. Majors Falconbridge and Noranda got into the act too, signing $2-million in Lac Rocher exploration deals with Donner Minerals.
