taxman, IMHO, it was the stock split that caused volatility to go up.
If it is was the settlement speculation, then the volatility should not really be going down as the talks have just started. THe volatility dropped on Monday, right after the split. Coincidence? I don't think so. I think it had more to do with the split and little to do the settlement talks.

In any case, I am going to start looking further into July options if I get a good opportunity. If the settlement talks break down and the stock drops a couple of points, I am going to buy some calls assuming I have sold my existing Aprils by then.

BTW-I would not be surprised to see MSFT above 100 by April expiration.Taxman, that was a good trade on the 100s.
