In the past MU has always gone at least one more shrink on each generation than the competition. Therefore an additional shrink at 16MB isn't too surprising to me. There are lots of non-PC applications for DRAM for which a 16MB chip is plenty, so I presume that they are anticipating continuing to make the 16MB chips for awhile. Therefore they are trying to be the low cost producer at 16MB so that they can make them profitably.
