If I were Glore, I'd want to get operations/QA issues thoroughly under control before launching a marketing blitz.

I'm sure Jim Sierk, who was "Mr. QA" from Allied Signal, instituted the beginning of a whole new quality mind set during his brief tenure as interim CEO....with six sigma quality as the ultimate goal.

Also, back in January Scott Flaig, Iomega's COO said he was about half way through the 2 year process of implementing Iomega's "Virtual Enterprise Model".

We've already started to see the benefits of this initiative via increased inventory turns and lower inventory levels with a "just in time" component delivery mind set. Since he did the same thing at Dell, I would not sell what this guy is doing short. He is going to wring every last cent possible out of Iomega's internal operating costs.

I believe that Iomega was a victim of it's own success and simply wasn't prepared to deal with the logistics and complexities associated with multiple suppliers and high volume production. Iomega must get their operating costs under control and I believe they are doing just that and will be a much stronger, leaner and wiser enterprise from the lessons learned in a disastrous 1998.
