OT:Cable Modem

Cable modems blaze. On the one I had, I was getting 300-500 kbps. Oh yeah, that's cooking. Then I moved to Alaska, where the infrastructure is pathetic.

Re: Firewall. Hmmm, that's a tough one. I didn't really worry too much about security. If you are running 95 or 98, you may want to get NT. If you get NT and patch it up, you should be secure enough. If you really want a firewall, one way to go is to get a dummy computer and run NT proxy server on it. Cheapest way I know is to get a 95 or 3.1 box and throw Wingate on it. Of course, either of these and you are going to need to hook up a little TCP/IP network.

PM me if you need more info.
