Historically, this past quarter is slower than the others. IIRC (if I recall correctly)

Can Anyone Definitely State How Much Q got for Infra?

And what was the book value of the Infra given up?

Also, what does "IPR" stand for?

Thanx.

A comment on earnings per share this quarter and next quarter. Many of you will remember that the earnings per share for the quarter ending in Sept 1998 was 68 cents per share when the one time charge for the Leap Wireless (LWIN) spin off was backed out. The earnings per share was less than that for the Dec 1998 quarter due in large part to conservative accruals of Russian sales, royalties, and some other adjustments. There will be other timing issues this quarter and next. Again as several acute observers have pointed out, the key to the next couple of quarters is revenue growth, not growth in earnings per share. This is conceptually revenue growth after the infrastructure sales to Ericsson and associated scale back there is worked through - revenue reductions, adjustments and charges. Earnings are going to be largely a matter of how the Q decides to deal with accruals, charges, bookkeeping adjustments, et al. What is actually key, is what ongoing revenues and earnings will be in fiscal year 2000 starting in Oct 1999. That is difficult if not impossible to predict very accurately yet. Could be anywhere from $3 to $6 or some other number. Until some of the smoke clears, this is all guesswork. The important point is that the new Q is a superb revenue and earnings machine. The exact timing of the earnings per share is much less vital than an appreciation of the rapidly emerging vast market for CDMA and for the Q leading to strong future earnings growth. Just IMO. Comments? Chaz Onward and upward. :-)
