I don't know the answer to this, but, I would suspect its more likely someone like MMC. I think that an Intel purchase of MMC would create alot more FTC or DOJ concern than anythign to do with FORE. FORE is rapidly becoming a bit player in the biz(as consolidation rips along), they need a home...

I believe that most of the ATM PHY chips they use are PMC parts. If you want to play that angle, buy PMCS. They have an Intel-like market share of the ATM PHY business.

I see no conflict with Intel buying FORE...whether they make their chips or not (do not believe they do...I recall others from Annual reports of the past). My guess is LSI.

I would be delighted to have Intel as the buyer.
