Micron Electronics Appoints Chief Operating Officer NAMPA, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1999--Micron Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:MUEI - news), a leading direct vendor of personal computer systems, today announced the appointment of Jill D. Smith to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Smith fills the COO position overseen by Joel Kocher since his appointment to Chairman and CEO last year. Smith has served as a consultant to Micron's executive team during the past year to develop and begin the implementation of its strategic transformation plan. Prior to that, Smith served as Vice President of Sara Lee's Personal Products Division in Europe, responsible for building and integrating its multi-national operations. She was also a Vice President at Bain & Company, a leading international consulting firm.
