I think the sentiment right now is that the verdict will be favorable to MSFT. The following is from CBS Market News.

" The judge has ruled that the recent merger of AOL and Netscape
and the AOL-Sun alliance has significantly changed the
competitive landscape in the Internet and computing business. He
wants evidence on what impact the merger and alliance will have
on Microsoft's alleged attempts to monopolize those markets."

Now, the threat of monopolizing the e-commerce market is not from MSFT, but from AOL/NSCP/SUN. The market needs MSFT to counter balance this new threat, and the government should encourage MSFT to compete strongly in this area. At this time, only MSFT has the technology and resources to do that.
