Pickup AC / "It's the Price of Oil..."????

<<<"...diana -- You got an air conditioner in your pickup? When did they start doing that with trucks. You don't close your winders do you? ...">>

<<<Off Topic>>>
I think you're joshing with me here, BD. I share a house in NYC with a bunch of grrls, and one of them's from Texas. I asked her if Texans had AC in their pickups. She said: "If they found a Texas pickup that was made in the last 25 years without AC, they'd sell tickets to see it like it was a two-headed calf. Summer in Texas isn't a season of the year, it's Divine Vengeance. Going without AC in your vehicle would be just plain crazy, not to mention that you'd have to drive it to Montana to sell it. Nobody in Texas would buy it."

My point with the pickup analogy is that Supply/Demand moves both the oil price and stock prices independently of each other. Like the truck engine moves the wheels and AC.

imho, Often Oil + Stock prices move together, giving the specious appearance of causality; It's easy to construct a mental image of Oil Price as more-or-less the Prime Mover; To believe that various 'other variables' move oil price and then in turn Oil Price causes sector stocks to move.

But
<<<Supply/Demand moves Oil Price, then Oil Price moves Stock Prices>>>
is Not The Same as
<<<Supply/Demand moves Oil Price and Supply/Demand moves Stock Prices.>>>

Sometimes, I think, the distinction is important.
Often it just doesn't matter.
But now and then a situation comes up and people are saying " How can this be? This just doesn't make sense because we all know 'It's the Oil Price...'" ...
The Oil Price is simple and straight-forward and easy to see. And it does work as an indicator much of the time. But not always.

I realize most everyone is convinced "It's the oil price, stupid." I've had my say about it before and wouldn't bring it up again except that you asked if there were any unbelievers left.
all this just mho, of course.
I'll shut up about it now.

<<<Off Topic again.>>>
I've got to keep the windows up at least 2/3 or the dang dogs will leap out.
