another slight problem is starbucks has grown
to an international symbol, and is profitable.
no one has been able to squeeze a profit out
of java centrale. they tried adding food, and
failed. company owned vs franchised, failed.
went from 30 plus stores to a handful. not to
pour cold coffee on this announcement, simply to
note this is a stiff competitive market, tight
margins and saturating. Java centrale shook out
and a few pieces fell into MDMI's hands. no audited
numbers. how many people are going to buy
coffee and muffins from the internet?
oh, java centrale tried co-branding with texaco,
failed, an international venture in korea, failed.
and there were a 10th of MDMI's shares outstanding.
