Cheeky:

I am with you on Linux. I first began following it a year ago, I am going to hang out with the Linux track at Spring Comdex, and I have been watching the radar screen for my corporate clients. It may just be the right thing (a thin, stable, server operating system) at the right time (Microsoft fast losing whatever credibility they have on the Y2K issue).

Watch for IBM to try to come up with some tools to help big companies manage Linux servers. IBM is very aware of potential Y2K glitches and they see Linux as a possible white knight to help large companies make sure that they have stable operations going into the Great System Test.

'With 100% certainty, right now, the computer industry is taking the world through a live system test on 1/1/00'

Who said that, a full year ago? Gee, I think it was me.

Christine

Humbly report, CK, seems to me that assuming Linux is the final answer is something like assuming everyone will switch to a Mac by 01/01/00.

Cheers,

Svejk
