Modified food

Sir--Must of the recent debate in The Press on
genetically modified, organic, and conventional food
appears to be charged with emotion and confusion. I
believe it is about time that we label the produce for what
it contains such as water, sugars, proteins, vitamins,
nitrate, genetically modified organisms, spray residues,
and others.

Consumers should pay for what is in the produce and not
for what others believe to be safe or unsafe without
adequate valid scientific evidence.

For example, it is misleading to advertise that all organic
produce is safe and chemical-free since organic apples
are produced with copper sprays. I have yet to see that
the level of toxic copper in these "so-called" organic
apples measured and displayed.
