Earlier this week Platinum Tech was bought out for more than double their current market cap (I think they were trading at around 12-13 and they were bought for 29/shr.). I used to follow PLAT along with other companies involved in Y2K work. There were plenty of companies who didnt seem to have a future beyond Y2K remediation, but there were several (PLAT included) that were strong businesses outside of the Y2K work. These were the companies I liked and invested in during the Y2K stock explosion a couple of years ago and I made good money on them. I continued to follow the ones I liked (IMRS, SYNT, PLAT, MAST, CBSI, KEA and TAVA) but they got creamed when the Y2K stocks came crashing down to earth and I sort of lost track of them over the last couple of months. This drubbing was justified for the Y2K only companies but not for the ones I mention above. But they got lumped in and fell along with the rest of them. So when PLAT got bought out the other day for such a premium I revisted these stocks and sure enough they were all trading at or near their lows. They all have excellent earnings and growth prospects and are undervalued by a good bit. The PLAT buyout bears this out.
So this morning I bought some IMRS, my long time fav., b/c I saw the volume creep up yesterday and again this morning. I think this group is ready to make a move. IMRS is now up about 2 on over 1 million shares. I would recommend that everyone take a look at IMRS, SYNT, KEA and the others I mentioned above. They could be excellent intermediate term plays.
