what you are calling the absolute bottom of the market is the only segment of the PC market which is seeing any significant growth. PC's over 1500.00 are seeing single digit growth while sub 1000 PC's are comprising up to 60% of most PC manufacturers volume. If you need support of this, check out the latest Time Magazine article on the sub 1000.00 PC. Remember also that WP-8 suite 8 is at the end of its life, PC Chips has agreed to distribute an old product to lay an upgrade for Corel Office 2000, seems like nothing but upside for Corel to me. As for Gateway and Compaq, I am quite sure they will get the latest version of WordPerfect when it is available and would probably see this deal as adding value to their offering.

Just some insight into the bigger picture.

Hi Jim,
I agree. I'm guessing that's why Sylvester left. I don't recall his having been fired. The company made him the scapegoat for poor first quarter sales then announced the PC Chips deal a couple weeks after he'd gone.
