CDMA has biggest PCS footprint

WASHINGTON—Personal communications services 1900 MHz
networks using Code Division Multiple Access technology lead in terms of
radio-frequency footprint, according statistics released by The Strategis
Group.

As of March, CDMA systems covered 10.4 percent of the U.S.
geography, followed by Global System for Mobile communications
systems with 7.3 percent coverage and Time Division Multiple Access
PCS systems, which cover 6.2 percent of the country's geography, said
Strategis.

‘‘Coverage is a key factor driving competition and consumer satisfaction,''
said Elliott Hamilton, senior vice president for North American Telecom at
Washington, D.C.-based Strategis. ‘‘Geography footprint only tells half of
the story.

‘‘Another important indicator is population coverage,'' continued
Hamilton. ‘‘CDMA leads here as well, although TDMA and GSM have
similar population coverage.''

Jim: Thanks for the link.

Note to Editors: The summit is closed to the press with the exception of the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural ceremony will take place Thursday, April 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. It will feature remarks by Secretary Daley and Minister Wu Jichuan. In addition, there will be a five minute photo-op of Secretary Daley and Minister Wu Jichuan prior to the start of a bilateral meeting at 9:30 a.m. The entire summit will be broadcast live over the Internet at 21cn.com.

What a hoot, ya gotta love those Chinese knuckleheads: Press boys you are welcome to come but you are only getting 30 minutes and a photo op, otherwise it is all on the net.
