I've been an Etrade customer for over three years, and a Datek customer for barely one month (so I wouldn't consider myself an expert on Datek). So far I haven't experienced any of the problems that have been mentioned. The couple of times that I called Datek I was able to get service without a wait, and I never had any problem connecting to their site. What you said about the "bare-boned commission" is true. I have mentioned this on the thread before. If you are use to Etrade, Datek will look like a no-frills broker - they don't offer half the things Etrade does, but they charge half the amount in commisions. It depends on where your priorities lie. I personally would be very happy with Etrade and what they charge if they would just be more reliable. Their system is constantly down, and their reps are so inconsistant.
