engineer: the scenario appears all the more plausible in that rumors of a possible Q-Ericy deal began to heat up at about the same time there were some stories coming out of PRC and HK press to the effect of supposed political infighting between the military (backing the test CDMA systems in the four cities) and China Tel (supposedly backing GSM). If I recall accurately, these story lines began surfacing in mid- to late January. Silly me, I ruminated that perhaps it was E moving China and letting them in on the pending deal.
