OT (kinda)

I believe we're seeing a sea change commencing, wherein businesses are tiring of having to deal with MSFT cr*p, pricing, and service packs... etc.

But Dave Eddy said it all. Linux won't be ready for prime time until there are lots of user-friendly applications available for it.

But on the up-side, those businesses won't be held hostage to paying exorbinant prices to "The Empire" for their basic OS'. Then with the future availability of more robust Java apps, we can reduce the overall costs to corporate software budgets.

I'm all for Linux. Actually, I'm trying to install it right now on a back-up computer. However, there have been a few problems with Win98 properly recognizing my floppy drive (used to work fine) so I can't load the system commander software.

The point? Even today, we face bottlenecks and software induced obstacles that require us to perform work-arounds or full replacements. All thanks to Bill Gates, "Wunderkind".

Regards,

Ron
