Thanks Ish. Don't worry. I'm okay. That pain thing just pissed me off a bit. They knew the surgeon had okayed it, and they would have to give it to me. Why four hours of delay (altho they did give me two inadequate doses of demerol), is the mystery to me. I told the surgeon when he came in, and he was surprised. Before they do the other hip I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Anyway. Big pain, like with serious injury or surgery, is in a class. It's intense. You hold still, you hold your breath, you wiggle around, you hyperventilate. You reach a hyper-real state of time-sensitivity. People telling you to relax, or that they understand, or that it will be just a minute more, are executable. They don't get it, and are asking for it. Silence or action are good. You're under a lot of stress, the whole environs is stressful, and they need to ease it up, not add to it. It's very do-able and simple: pain medicine.

Yap yap. Most of my many experiences have been much better. I too hope it was worth it. I think it is ~ got a great surgeon who thinks it is. Or he wouldn't spend the time. I think overall optimism is the nicest way to go. It feels better than doubt. If it fails, they can replace the hip. That's okay too.

No worries! Really. (Remind me of that.)

Thanks for the good wishes.
