Details on solvere acquisition: Posted on the RB thread: R.C. firm Nets unit Published Thursday, April 1, 1999 By Jack Katzanek Daily Bulletin RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- Hitsgalore.com Inc., an Internet-based company developing a niche with a business-to-business search engine, is adding to its technology base by acquiring part of a Web-based software firm. Hitsgalore.com is acquiring the Internet Division of Solvere Inc. of Irvine for an undisclosed amount of cash and restricted stock, spokesmen for both companies said Wednesday. The deal will give the Rancho Cucamonga firm proprietary rights to Solvere's Internet software and technology developments. For Solvere, the sale is expected to add a strong search engine partner and get its products into the market mainstream, said Alex Truong, president of the 2-year-old company. Solvere has developed e-mail software that Truong said is similar the Microsoft program Hotmail. He said his company likes to call it "Hotmail on steroids." "Hitsgalore.com said this is just perfect; it's just what they need," Truong said. "Our system allows a company's name on an e-mail address. People love that because it allows others to recognize their companies, not just the individuals." Truong said Solvere's work in database development work was a strong selling point for Hitsgalore.com. "It will be the heart and soul of their operation," Truong said. According to a company statement, Solvere had revenues of just over $550,000 in 1998. It projects revenues of about $1.5 million this year. Hitsgalore.com President Steve Bradford said in a statement that Solvere's technology has been instrumental in building his company's search engine technology and is helping Hitsgalore.com eliminate adult content often turned up by search engines using a shotgun approach. Solvere also is showing Hitsgalore.com to prevent databases from becoming the victim of "spam" artists. Hitsgalore.com, which is traded over the counter on an electronic bulletin board under the symbol HITS, is also building an 8,500-square-foot computer center in Rancho Cucamonga. The company's stock closed up1Ú8 Wednesday to 51Ú8.
