Briefing.com

15:35 ET******

ADVANCED FIBRE (AFCI) 9 1/4 +1 3/4 It's been awhile since this former high-flyer has been in the news, but stock soaring on more than 3x average daily volume on reports that company is about to announce new CEO and major contract win. While both would be positive developments, stock unlikely to sustain upside momentum until investors grow convinced that revenue growth has turned the corner. AFCI has posted year/year revenue declines in each of the past two quarters, and comparions over the next two quarters will make year/year growth difficult to achieve. After that comparisons turn more favorable and could lead to some nice positive surprises. Considering that only 2 of the 13 analysts surveyed by Zack's rate the stock a strong buy, plenty of room for upgrades once picture improves. But for now earnings risk still too high for Briefing.com's liking. As such we would hesitate to chase the stock. One final note, stock has been an oft rumored takeover target. As of yet, we haven't been able to tie today's gain to new merger speculation. We'll keep you posted.
