Hi, It wasn't Murphy. It was Laurence Peter, that is why it is known as the Peter Principle. What Peter found was that in an organization, individuals who perform well tend to be promoted. Eventually they reach a level that exceeds their capability hence, they don't perform well. At this point they no longer get promoted. They are now at their level of incompetence. Murphy is the guy who said if something can go wrong it will. It is known as Murphy's Law. Cheers
