I'm from N.B. and one of the directors of UIC is in N.S., something to do with N.S. Power. Anyway, with the new pipeline to be built in the maritimes, UIC would have a direct contact in N.S. when the bidding for SCADA equipment is needed. ANy thoughts regarding this as a possibility.
You did suggest speculation,

Hi Richard.

From your message...
>>Can't argue either with debenture conversion price given today's pricing.

From the press release...
>>As part of the financing, Unitec has issued 400,000 bonus shares to SOCO at 25 cents. The shares have a four-month hold period.

I thought the second statement should balance out the first one. To be a real stinker I'd say, "Once again we have dilutive financing."

Anyway, looks like closure of the deal was a non-event in terms of interest in the stock.

My take on the backlog is that most of UIC's larger contracts are phased over several quarters (up to 7 if memory serves). So the backlog cannot really be cleared up.

Stuart.
