Zoltan! Stupid indeed---- you have heard that Zogby did a follow up to the '96 election, and found that AMONG THOSE WHO COULD CORRECTLY IDENTIFY the candidates positions, Dole won. My public service announcement? "If you don't know sh** from shinola, stay home on election day"... Of course, you realize that now Daniel will probably be back to repeat "Vote Republican, because you're stupid and we're not" ad nauseam

In the past I've posted on this thread my opposition to Clinton being impeached for his sexual shenanigans, in spite of my dislike for his personal character and many of his policy positions. I haven't changed my view of that proceeding. That being said, I'm very troubled by the fact of our country being involved in the current Yugoslavian conflict with Clinton in charge.

The perception of him being a person without strong ideals and a firm moral character is a dangerous one in the context of international conflict. This is not a time for wishy-washy political expediency. The US and NATO's goal in Kosovo should be clearly and concisely defined.

I have just returned from a trip to that part of the world and witnessed in a Kiev museum the true horrors of the genocide that occurred during WWII. People in Eastern Europe have lived it and they remember well. Never again!

Milosovic and his thugs need to be stopped but without alienating the good people of Serbia, and there are many. I wish there were an easy answer.

I do believe that Russian opposition to NATO involvement is for domestic political consumption. Slavic brothers and all. I saw a small anti-NATO demonstration in Ukraine but it didn't amount to much. The military in the former Soviet Union is practically bankrupt, as are the general economies in that part of the world.

I had an interesting conversation, while there, with a retired Soviet general and MIG pilot. He told me that they cannot even afford fuel for their planes for training exercises. He also detests Milosovic and supports the NATO actions in Yugoslavia. Very interesting.

The US can afford Clinton and his escapades except in times like this. I'd feel much more comfortable with a Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher running the show. Someone with ideals and strength of conviction.

Regards, JB
