ToySoldier & Digital Me.....

>>I am afraid that Novell might simply develop the underlying technology and simply sell a solution that others will use to create a Service Portal (and make tons of cash on). I personally would like to see Novell involved in some way in the rollout and operation of an Internet accessible portal of Digital Me. But I am afraid that they are afraid to go that far with this solution.>>

Don't worry about this.......

I appreciate your concerns, however.

There are plenty of great minds at work that will make this Digital Me thing go. The cat is out of the bag. Novell MUST release something FREE to the public that maps many - if not all - of the commonly requested pieces of information we need to conduct commerce, create a sense of community etc.

There are so many potential apps. What Novell must do is provide a portal precence that allows us to pizza platter this thing. Digital Me is a core driver. You need core drivers to create server platforms that people have incentives to develop on.

Development platforms are changing quite rapidly. This is Novell's chance to shine in this space and yes, they can have the cake and eat it, too.

Keep the faith. It's going to take a lot of sharing, gifting and energy to lift this off. I think Schmidt is on track.
