However, we don't expect deal to underpin entire sector as other groups, such as PCs, Chip Equipment and Disk-drive/Storage continue to be plagued by earnings concerns... Most recent warning coming from Silicon Graphics (SGI 16 9/16 +2 5/16)... Company announced, after the close, that it will post a wider than expected Q3 loss of between $0.27 and $0.32... Street had been expecting loss of $0.07... Product delay/transition problems at center of disappointment... Stock which had just been winning back street's confidence will get creamed.

Computer Systems & Peripherals

As noted in general commentary above Silicon Graphics (SGI) issued an ugly earnings warning after the close... Given company's troubled history street won't act kindly to the news... Look for stock to drop by as much as 4 to 5 points.

Dell (DELL 40 1/4 +1) propped up by some last minute window dressing... As market comes to realization that it has overstated fears of a PC slowdown, look for DELL and the rest of the industry to mount a sizable comeback.
