I've had the honor of hunting behind 3 wonderful dogs in my life. The first was a lab/g.shorthair mix, the second a black lab, and the third a chocolate. All three of these great hunters hunted well after turning 10, and 2 of the 3 hunted up to 14 years old. Like with people, I think conditioning and diet are what makes the difference. If new black pup turns out to be the same quality hunter as any of the three aforementioned dogs, then I will consider myself blessed. 909's, -Joe
