LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1999--Market Guide Inc. (NASDAQ: MARG), the foremost provider of financial content on the Internet, announced that year-to-date page impressions on its Internet site (www.marketguide.com) increased 73% for the calendar quarter ended March 31, 1999.
Page impressions increased from 4.65 million in December 1998 to 8.05 million in March 1999, representing a 73% increase over the three month period. Page impressions in March increased 17% from the prior month.
Fueling the increase in page impressions was a sharp rise in the number of unique visitors from 415,000 in December 1998 to 619,000 in March 1999, representing a 51% increase over the three month period. Additionally, the average number of pages accessed per user increased 15% during the quarter.
These statistics only reflect traffic served on the public Market Guide and co-branded sites. They do not include traffic from private labeled sites hosted by Market Guide for several large discount brokerage firms or the many millions of page impressions recorded for Market Guide content on independently licensed sites such as AOL, Yahoo!, Motley Fool and others.
Commenting on the growth in page impressions, Aziz Akin, Market Guide's Director of New Media, said, "The major factors driving our increase in traffic are an increase in the number of vendors linking to our site, the implementation of a more robust and scaleable infrastructure ensuring that all visitors have a fast and rewarding experience, and the integration of additional content such as insider trading and institutional ownership statistics."
Currently, Market Guide supplies more than sixty Internet sites with financial content. The Company intends to maintain and expand on this base by creating more high traffic co-branded sites with leading financial services providers.
